Quant Developer
Pythia Sports is a fast-growing technology company, delivering innovative solutions to the gaming industry since 2014.
Our business is all about predictive sports modelling, underpinned by extensive use of a wide and ever-expanding array of real-time feeds and inputs.
We strive to be the best at what we do every day, and we know that our success comes from our most important resource – our people. We pride ourselves on hiring talented individuals who challenge the status quo and help us to build exceptional, high-performing teams.
Based in London Victoria, we’re working to a hybrid work-from-home/office model but would consider sizable remote working for the right candidate – that is attendance in the London HQ only when necessary.
We offer private health and dental insurance, a cycle to work scheme, enhanced parental leave, enhanced sick pay, increased holiday allowance, discretionary annual bonus, and plenty of career development opportunities.
At Pythia, you will find a relaxed atmosphere, regular social events and remarkable colleagues looking to push technology boundaries – come and join us!
The Role
As a Quant Developer, you will be joining a small, but growing team, dedicated to ensuring our platform delivers the optimal experience to our partners.
As a team, we offer a unique experience to own your models from primary research through to deployment. We’re tackling problems that no one else has solved – you’ll be developing solutions from your own ideas and research. You’ll be working with comprehensive real-time data from both markets and live sports events on systems that cannot fail but must be designed expecting failure.
We build for long-term performance and scalability by writing comprehensive testing and documentation alongside the primary code, not as an afterthought. You’ll design solutions built for years of growth; research and test new approaches using our historical data; and have the opportunity to develop best practices and take genuine ownership of the work you do. Your understanding of production-ready quant code will be crucial as we mature our products and grow the team.

Measures of Success
- In the first week you will set up existing models locally and be able to recreate their outputs. Pick a simple bug from the backlog and merge a fix into deployment.
- By the end of the first month you’ll be contributing meaningfully to technical discussions and able to propose, write up, and implement changes following our best practices.
- After the first three months, you will be familiar with our modules and architecture and have researched, developed, and tested at least one major new feature or model and have deployed it to production.
For all of these goals the existing team will provide the support and guidance you need – you won’t be figuring it out alone.
